Perspective: Being a Teenager

Perspective

Being a teenager when I was little meant to me I'd be skinny, smart, popular, and go to a lot of school activities. I'll be honest with you, I viewed my future differently than I do now. It's quiet funny to go down memory lane and rethink these strange thoughts.

Perspective #1- Age 7

When I was 7 I thought being a teenager was like staying out late, going to parties, living life easy, no hardwork. I thought being a teenager was like getting to kick back, relax and do whatever I wanted. I thought if I wanted to be popular I'd have to be skinny and smart for people to like me.  I honestly wanted to be accepted. I know now its a very different reality.

Perspective #2- Age 11

My perception of teenagers had changed a lot. I wanted to have the kind of teenage lives that I read about in books. Like I wanted the opposite of what I wanted when I was younger. I wanted to not be part of the crowd. I has it set in my mind that I would find the group of life-long friends I had wanted ( which i did) and oppose those who were the "popular people". Everyone has those people at their school that aren't nice and accepting, the people who don't just fit the mold for what you have to be, they are the mold for that. I had been reading way to many teenage romance novels.

Now

I think I was pretty stupid as a kid. Pre-judging what I thought I was going to be. I've learned that I don't wanna be popular. I'm very different than them. I thought I wanted to have a marvelous social life, but to be honest sometimes I'd rather be on the internet in my room, lights off, radio on than spending time outside with nature. Actually right now I hate nature. And bright light. If I wanted bright light I'd turn up my screen brightness. I do have an awesome group of friends and we have countless adventures. Oh, and drama, I thought I'd steer clear of that. How stupid I was. Being a teen is hard but it teaches us who our true friends are and that we should stand out not fit in.

Books that I wanted to write

All my life I've had about a million book ideas. Having an author as a father, I'm often encouraged to write these ideas, but I don't. To me writing has never been a hobby that I complete. It's more like scribbling down random thoughts, plot twists, character outlines and cover designs. I'm actually in the thought process of writing a book. I'm actually going to try to complete this one and hopefully write a fanfic or two.

So here is a brief description of a couple books ideas that have bit the dust :
(Don't laugh I already know some of them sound stupid That's why they didn't get completed)

  • Phi Xi Theta- Aliens attack the earth with a bizarre weapon: the chronobomb. Entire cities are instantly transported into anywhere in the past. A chronobomb strikes a college dormitory, transporting it back to the Jurassic period. This fraternity struggles to survive against dinosaurs, disease, and a murderous sorority.
  • The Parallel- A girl exchanges places with her opposite in the parallel universe, she finds a horrible truth of the parallel world and attempts to cross back over to the real world but her opposite knows what is going to happen to the parallel world and refuses to leave this new world she's found. The only way to save her is to trick the opposite back into the parallel.
  • Saving Hollywood: An unlikely story of a true hero- A 10 y/o girl walks from her small town in Kentucky to Hollywood to meet her idol, who then she starts using the girl's story to gain more fame and fortune until the press starts loving her more than the celebrity. A boy back in her hometown finds out that the celebrity plans to murder her and make her death look like an accident. Since this boy has had a crush on her for the past three years he embarks on a journey to save her and picks up a couple unlikely friends on the way.
